Growing a garden using plant seeds can be more difficult than using small plants that have already grown. A plant seed is very small and one must have some knowledge of gardening to know how many plant seeds one should use. Each plant seed must also be carefully spaced from the other. This allows the plants room to grow. Before using plant seeds to grow a garden one should make sure they are prepared. It is not recommended for a beginning gardener to use plant seeds to start a garden, since it can be complicated.

Plant seeds can be used to grow anything, and many gardeners choose to grow flower gardens from plant seeds instead of potted plants. There may be times when one does not even need to buy a packet of plant seeds. An experienced gardener can harvest a plant seed from a grown plant when the plant seeds are dry. The plant seeds should be taken directly off of the plant. One should try not to use plant seeds that have already fallen off of the plant.

•A plant seed needs to be stored in a place that is cool but dry. Dampness or heat can harm the plant seeds. Storing plant seeds in envelopes is a useful technique. One can also keep their plant seeds organized this way by labeling the envelopes. Knowing which plant each plant seed came from can eliminate confusion when it comes time to actually plant the seeds. The time to plant should be carefully planned. One should estimate when the last frost in their living environment is going to come. The plant seeds can begin to be readied for growth about six to eight weeks before the last frost. Getting a head start when preparing plant seeds for a garden can give someone a head start and an advantage. Plant seeds that are treated will be healthier and more likely to grow.

•The plant seeds should be put in containers that have been filled with soil. Each container should have a hole at the bottom to allow for excess water to drain out of the bottom. This way, the plant seeds can take the nourishment they need and not be flooded. Only a couple of plant seeds should be put in a container. They should be watered regularly. Although the plant seeds are still indoors, they should be put in an area that is most likely to get sunlight. The plant seeds will soon turn into seedlings, if they have been properly treated. After the seedlings are a couple of inches, they should be planted in the ground, as long as there is no chance of a frost. If there is, they should be transported to larger containers. One should transplant the small plants as soon as possible.

Growing a garden from plant seeds has some pros and cons. One should probably not attempt it unless they are fully aware of how to care for the plant seeds. Although it is more difficult than planting a garden using potted plants, the result can be very rewarding after watching the hard work pay off.
